A Letter to The Director...

After reading the script for 'Slow West' with the view of approaching the Director as a potential editor for the film, I had these comments to make:

Slow West is a very visual script. I love the dynamic between Jay and Sila - they seemed to illuminate each others weaknesses. I also liked how tidy the script seemed to be, there were no loose ends. eg. Referring through all stages of the script back to the title sequence.

The script seems to have a kind of consiteena pacing. I think the exposition of this will rely heavily on the pacing of the edit. Moving between fast paced action scenes to really slowing right down during the reflectivescenes. That being said, I'd also be very interested to see what an edit of this would look like where the action scenes do take quite a slow pace.

When I read this script I can hear a lot of Arthur Lyman, the songs from his album 'Hawaiin Sunset' resonate. I'd be interested in that Juxtaposition. I think for me it helps with the nostalgia associated with the waves throughout the script

It's been a few weeks now since I wrote what was above, and in reflection I think some things to note, come the time I contact a director for real, I'll be looking to find an emotional connection between myself the script and the director,
